[presto]⚕ OPEN ⚕ Assyria had just finished with her last customer of the day and locked up. She went by the bank and made her deposit as usual into the legitimate company bank account. There were some things she hated, and people were one of those things she didn't like to deal with unless she had to do so. Sighing, she got back in her car and headed to the bar, it was late and she wanted some vodka.
Normally, she drank at home but tonight she didn't feel like going home to an empty estate. There were very few left who carried the Palmazio name and she knew carrying her late husband's namesake could be very dangerous. This was especially true in Chicago and New York. She walked a fine line. Though most law enforcement in the city didn't ask questions if they found out her last name. They knew better than to get into the Palmazio affairs unless they wanted a war. She was certain law enforcement didn't want a mafia war. "Double Vodka, Straight." She replied. Eyes critical of the bartender as she watched her drink being poured. Her Eastern European accent heavy.
She's at a random bar, NOT Molly's [/presto] |

Eyal could hardly sleep; he was still dressed in his suit from work. It had been a long day both for legitimate work which required him to be in three places at once to get that one photo and also the boss had been in one of his ‘be nice to cop’ moods again. It was easy to see why, live and let live yet Eyal’s world there was none of that. When you could barely trust the side you worked for an alliance like Coopers with the CPD was a strange one to wrestle with. The boss was the boss though and if he wanted to keep the best job he had then he would keep his mouth shut and tow the line.
He found himself wondering into a bar to watch the Chicago night life, you never really knew what you would find or stumble upon. Bars were like gold dust for information and people they seemed to attract everyone yet that evening he was simply looking for a drink and a distraction. He waited patiently as he heard an eastern European accented woman order a double vodka straight. Tough drink though he knew the drink went with the woman as he simply glanced at the bar tender as he took a seat next to Assyria.
“Make that two bar tender.” He stated watching him still, the one thing he knew about bars they were great places to poison drinks if given the right opportunity. He had done it himself a few times, either buy it himself or throw a tip to a man to look the other way or simply the age old bump and slip whichever version it was keeping an eye on the drink was the only way to avoid it. Barely taking his eyes of the bartender he picked up the bar mat as he toyed with it for a moment.
“So what brings a woman like you out at this hour?” He asked her knowing exactly who she was given they worked for the same man. He also knew her last name though that had never bothered him much, Palmazio was a name yet if it worked for her then he had nothing against it at all.

[presto]⚕ @eyal ⚕ Assyria was the eyes and ears on the ground when it came to dealing with the law enforcement snafu’s. She’d been through a lot with the family. She’d come in under Galacio, seen the mafia handed down to his ex-son in law and it now rested in the hands of the man’s brother. Technically still in the family with a few major set backs. The problem was one turned cop and that had set the whole thing into motion. Though Assyria was just waiting on one of them to step out of line; because as soon as they did she knew Cooper would have no issues with calling a war against the cops.
Assyria was one of the only ones in the mafia who struggled with her English. Her Italian was much better but she didn’t like to draw attention to that, it was more dangerous. Assyria had always been a hard drinker, it took the edge off. She was soon joined by Eyal and it took her a moment to place him. Oh right, one of the ones Cooper had outsourced or hired or something. Not that Assyria minded, it kept things fresh and she was sure this one was well vetted. Cooper ran a tight ship and this man hardly smelled of cop.
Syri was well versed in her poisons and if she was going to do it then she would not do it at a bar; but she knew amateurs might. She could tell Eyal did the same. Good. He had some wits about him. The last thing Assyria could stand was stupidity. It was the fastest way to elict her short temper.
When he spoke she smirked. “I enjoy night.” Her English stumbled for proper grammar and was rather chunky. The words sounded so foreign to her most of the time. Assyria was a night owl. Watching all hours. “You?” she pointed at his drink. Her eyes traced him, that was her way of doing things. The voice she had despite the chunk of the pronunciation had a sultriness to the accent she used.

Beyond what he was learning about the Palmazio Mafia Eyal had just walked into a storm. At least that was what it felt like when he found out about the truce, he had never seen anything like it though he had to admit either Cooper was a whole other kind of crazy to do it or a smart guy. So far Eyal was assuming smart but then he had worked with enough evil people to know smart and crazy were hardly too far apart when it came down to things. Creativity and madness it worked at times to cross the line as long as the line was able to move with you.
English to Eyal was just another language; yes he occasionally struggled with understanding the subtle meanings of things however he fixed that given his trade with either a bullet or threat. It was easier on everyone if he could just understand and not have to read the subtext, after all basic was the best way at times. He had a few languages he knew but then there were a lot he knew little off which was just as bad at times. Had she mentioned the slight wiff of being a cop he would have laughed or taken it as an insult. A cop who had made a career of killing, that had to be a new one on him unless he was missing the Palmazio irony.
Eyal had been taught patience the kind that came with waiting for that one moment where it could make all the difference. To try something in crowded bar with the possibility of onsite cameras if the homework side of things had been forgone was the idiots guide to getting caught. He was still working so in the grand scheme of things he was reasonably good at what he did. There was always room for improvement however taking a risk as big as that was not in his rule book not that it was a book more like a line or two but then again he had never been too picky lately regarding his jobs.
He smiled hearing her English stumble, “Night is when all the devils come out to play.” He stated though the daylight did just as well for evil doings if required. He noted the sultry accent as he smiled and sighed, “The day job has been... interesting. I am good but three places at the same time, it is highly unlikely I will succeed. Then I have the night job where it is still that ‘be nice to our friends’ talk.” He said knowing that his day boss needed his head checked if he thought for one minute he was able to split into three. At least Cooper gave him a target and that was it even if the friends were the police and entirely untouchable for the current moment, not three kills across the city at the same time though if he put his mind to it, with some robotic help it was likely a possibility if he tried. "So what it it about the night that attracts you? Other than it seems to suit you." He asked her smiling as he tipped his drink carefully in her direction as if toasting her.

[presto]⚕ @eyal ⚕ Assyria wasn’t so sure she was on board with the truce; which is what made it easy to be the one responsible for retaliating against any cop who tried to go digging. Moving her hand towards her vodka she took another sip of it. Looking over the rim at the younger male. The help was always changing within things and she knew that one cop had almost put their entire existence out; she didn’t know why Cooper let her live. If it was her decision, there would be no truce.
Assyria just knew cops well enough to know how most of them acted. They tended to take in everything; but if hadn’t been for the fact she had seen him around Cooper, there may not have been as peaceful a meeting for being approached. Syri kept people in the family close; and had taken over as matriarch in more ways than one now that things had gone the way they had. That included Eyal, and he could just get used to it.
“You try superman?” She had meant to ask him if he was trying out to be Superman, but as usual the full sentence was lost in translation. Finally she gave up and started off into her Italian. “Le mani sono piene.” (You have your hands full) she noted with a small smirk. Assyria had built herself up with the reputation that she was always there if any of the associates needed her and she could be relyed upon for her skill and intelligence gathering.
When he asked about the night she chuckled. “Ha la sua storia da raccontare.” (It has it’s own tale to tell) she replied tipping her glass towards him. “Puoi imparare molte cose da esso.” (You can learn much things from it). She added as she took another sip on her vodka.

Eyal was used to solving the problems as they appeared, occasionally being a little more proactive but then when there was a no go set up on cops in the city it was simply easier to watch them and make sure they stayed within their realms of charge. No straying and no poking their noses into anything they had no business being in. He however was stuck in limo, waiting for the next name or face he needed to fix for Cooper but rarely did they provide much of a challenge however the minute he let his guard down he knew it would result in death. Always assume they were highly trained and then assume not at all because even the wisest person could be outsmarted by an idiot.
He took a sip from his glass, enjoying the cool feel of it followed by the all familiar heat attached to it. Eyal was never used to a matriarch or patriarch really, his parents tried with him but he had only found someone who understood him that was abruptly taken away. His fault but then how could he have known his awkward ways would fail him so badly. It was easier not to feel and focus on work whichever side of the coin that chose to fall.
Eyal furrowed his brow a moment before he smiled and shook his head. “No I never liked the cape and wearing your underwear outside of your clothes. Very American.” He said not entirely sure that he had picked up on what she said though given his variety in language it was easy to fall into another language or lose the meanings. “Niente che non posso gestire.” (Nothing I can’t handle) He said nodding toward her as he returned her smirk. Eyal was hardly ignorant of the woman’s reputation, he both had a healthy respect for her and a slight wearness for her.
“Infatti, ogni racconto ha la sua storia dietro.” (Indeed it does, every tale has it's own story behind it.) He said smiling slightly as he tipped his glass to her in return. “Quindi cosa hai imparato questa sera?” (So what have you learned this evening?) He asked her not wanting her to dish on the information she had aquired of which he had no doubt there wa enough unless she felt it pertinent to do so. He knew how to find his own information though bars were great places for people to talk once they relaxed enough to forget that everyone had ears to listen with.
